Middle Creek Veterinary Hospital And Exotic Animal Clinic

I rarely ever leave reviews for any business but have to leave a 5 star review for Middle Creek Vet after my visit yesterday! I came in as a walk in after finding a stray 5 week old kitten. I knew we wanted to keep him but he needed to be seen for fleas, worms, etc. and no other vet near me could take him. Immediately Stephanie, the office manager, was so kind. She squeezed us in and brought our little guy food, toys, and a blanket. She checked on us while we waited and was truly the sweetest. Everyone we saw from Stephanie, to the nurse, to the doctor was amazing and kind. It meant so much to me as I was slightly stressed about how to care for this little kitten. I’m so grateful!

If you have small animals TAKE THEM HERE! My rabbit Cherry needed to be seen urgently and her vet Avian and Exotic did not have an opening. They welcomed me in like family. They took care of my baby so quickly. Unlike other vets I have taken Cherry too they sat down with me. They took the time to talk me through the estimate for her surgery and they recommended options for how to pay for it. I have never felt so loved. I have never felt so confident in a vet that my pet was receiving the best care. When I called them with concerns post op they eased my anxiety and told me that Cherry was experiencing normal things post teeth extraction. The staff at middle creek understands that pet care is not cheap (their services are much better priced than avian and exotics). They want to help. Cherry and I will be coming here from here on out. It's worth the drive because they care about not just your pet but the owner as well.

I'm writing this to help others make an informed decision before bringing their pets here. I've had two visits for my gerbils — both routine — and both ran over two hours. The second confirmed this isn't a fluke. My most recent visit was for a mite infestation. The appointment was slow and disjointed — long unexplained waits, redundant tests despite photo evidence I'd already provided, and no upfront estimate before charges were added. Dr. Swan was clearly managing other patients throughout, which made it hard to get focused care or straight answers. When medication was finally brought in, I was given only one dose per gerbil and told I'd need to return twice more — despite being expected to administer it myself. I had to insist on receiving all the doses at once. I left without any discharge instructions or guidance on treating the infestation at home. The bill: $341. I contacted the office manager to request a partial refund and flagged several concerns. After a week, no resolution — not even a phone call. If you have exotic pets, Avian & Exotics in Raleigh is well worth the drive. Better care, upfront estimates, and focused attention. UPDATE: I see Middle Creek responded to my review. Number one, I've had exotic pets for over 20 years and know what to expect from an exotic pet visit. Number two, I reached out to them respectfully multiple times to discuss the issues. I gave them 10 days to contact me before posting my review. I never heard from them. They will most likely not contact you if you had an issue with them. This was my second time using their services with almost exactly the same issues. I gave them a fair and honest review. My statement stands: avoid this clinic.

My baby iguana had a prolapse and Middlecreek vet was quick to get him in. I immediately felt like I made the right decision to bring him when I met Stephanie at the front desk. She was very friendly and helped get my baby warm. The surgery went well and he was ok for a month, but the prolapse came back out yesterday 😔 I just dropped him back off to get a 2nd surgery and hopefully figure out what is causing this. After I left, I rescued a turtle that had been hit by a car… I brought the turtle to Middlecreek and they humanely euthanized the poor baby so he wouldn’t suffer 🐢 They really care 🥹 Coming back to update my review about this practice... Blaze had to have a 3rd prolapse surgery and this time they sutured his cloaca to his stomach. After this surgery, Blaze still did not poop for a week, and was still straining terribly. I brought him back in and had to spend another $100 for medication to give him at home... some being actual needles which I was not comfortable giving with his scaly skin. He still had not had a bowl movement so I took him back and they gave him an enema. Note I have spent over $2,000 at this point at this place and Blaze has not improved at all! My boyfriend picked him up after the enema and didn't know that they charged him $150 which included an exam fee and the enema. I can understand charging for the enema, but why should I be charged an exam fee after this has been his 3rd surgery!!! You would think that would be included especially since I have continued to voice how I can't keep going into debt. They kept him overnight due to another emergency that came in and I was not updated by the vet until around 9pm that they had not even gotten to him yet. I noticed when my boyfriend brought him home that one of his sutures was hanging off. I was very upset that the vet did not notice that and I KNOW it did not happen in the short 30 min drive home when he just chills on our shoulder the whole ride. Over the weekend, Blaze still has not pooped on his own and he popped the remaining suture from straining so bad. I feel like I would have been totally in the dark if I didn't have the receptionist's personal cell phone number to send photos and videos too for updates. I wrote Stephanie a long message about my frustrations and she said to bring him in today so Dr. Swan could look at his sutures. She told me that there is nothing else she could do for him and said she is going to refer him to NC State. I was told that they would help me out administering the pain and antibiotic needle injections that I paid for and I wouldn't be charged for him to be examined- she was in the room for less than 5 min granted. They gave him some fluids since he looks so unhealthy. This lady comes in and tries to charge me $80 for an exam fee and to administer the injections which took less than 2 minutes and fluids which I was not told I would be charged for!! I am so upset with as much as I have spent at this point and none of it has even helped him at all that they would charge me again! I would not have brought him back there today if I would have known. Especially since they know how much I am going to have to spend at NC State. I wish I would have taken him there in the first place. It breaks my heart to see my baby like this. I don't want to give up after everything he has been through and we have definitely bonded through this. Long story short.... don't take your reptiles to Middle Creek! It won't let me respond to the reply, but they most definitely did not tell me the fluids were going to be $50 today or I would have declined. I was told it was going to be post surgical exam of his sutures from 3 surgeries!!
